Access to HE Diploma (Creative Computing & Esports)

The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Creative Computing and Esports) is a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification designed for learners who want to progress into creative computing, games development, digital media or esports-related university degrees, but do not hold traditional entry qualifications.

The diploma is regulated by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and awarded by Open College Network South East (LASER Learning Awards). It is widely accepted by UK universities as an alternative entry route to higher education.

This programme combines creative digital skills, computing foundations and academic study skills, preparing learners for degree-level study in fast-growing digital and creative industries.

The Access to HE Diploma (Creative Computing and Esports) blends creative digital production, computing concepts and academic skills.

Creative Computing units:

• Computer Game Creation and Design (3 credits)
• Creation of a 3D Animation Scene (3 credits)
• Game Production using a Game Engine (3 credits)
• Storytelling for a Creative Computing Project (3 credits)
• Understanding Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) (3 credits)

Esports units:

• Ethics and Legislation in Esports (3 credits)
• Planning an Esports Event (3 credits)
• The Origin of Esports and Careers in the Industry (3 credits)
• Understanding Esports Strategies (3 credits)
• Using Social Media to Market Esports (3 credits)

Computing units:

• Computer Architecture (3 credits)
• Computer Networks and Data Communication (6 credits)

• Operating Systems and System Tools (3 credits)

Maths units:

• The Nature and Applications of Statistics (3 credits)
• Understanding Maths (3 credits)

Academic Skills units:
